How to Pick a Peach
1. PROPER COLOR - The ripest peaches have a deep yellow background color. The red color on a peach is not an indication of how ripe it is.
2. HOW FIRM SHOULD A PEACH BE? - A ripe peach is firm to the touch. It may seem hard to you, but peaches will soften if left out of the refrigerator for a few days.
3. PICKING THE PEACH - Pick peaches by twisting fruit gently. If the peach is ripe, it will separate from the branch easily.
4. VARY THE FIRMNESS - Pick peaches of various degrees of firmness, with firmer peaches on the bottom and softer ones on the top.
